Program Description

The Legal Issues of Criminal Justice Technical Certificate of Credit is a sequence of courses that introduces the student to the legal issues relevant to criminal justice. Learning opportunities develop knowledge that is used as a basis for job related training, as an entry point for a diploma or degree programs, or pursuit of entry level job acquisition. The Legal Issues of Criminal Justice Technical Certificate contains sufficient hours in in-service law enforcement to meet the college requirements of the Intermediate Certificate of the Career Development Program of the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council.

Admission Requirements

  • Submit completed application and application fee
  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED are required

Public Safety Employment Awareness Statement

A criminal history will not hinder a student from receiving a certificate, diploma, or degree in a Public Safety program from Southern Crescent Technical College; however, a student with a criminal background may be denied employment in the public safety field.

The following is a suggested path to complete this program in a timely manner. An individual’s path to completion may be different based on institutional and personal factors affecting his/her academic progress.
