Program Description

The Aviation Welding TCC at Southern Crescent Technical College provides students with the foundational skills and specialized training needed for welding in the aviation and aerospace industries. This program equips students with construction trade fundamentals, blueprint reading, and advanced welding techniques, ensuring they meet industry standards for precision and quality in aircraft fabrication and repair. The curriculum begins with Construction Trade Fundamentals (COFC 1080), covering essential safety protocols, tool usage, and material handling. Students will then progress to Blueprint Reading for Welding Technology (WELD 1030) to develop the ability to interpret detailed welding schematics and industry drawings. Hands-on training in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) is provided through WELD 1045 and WELD 1150, where students master TIG welding techniques on aluminum and other aviation-grade materials. Finally, Fabrication Processes (WELD 1151) reinforces structural welding skills used in aircraft manufacturing and repair. Program Highlights: Comprehensive training in aviation-grade welding and fabrication. Hands-on experience with Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG)In-depth instruction in blueprint reading and structural fabrication. Career opportunities in aircraft manufacturing, aerospace welding, and structural repair.
