CGL1 Cosmetology for Licensure, Technical Certificate of Credit

Program Description

The Cosmetology for Licensure program is a sequence of courses that prepares students for careers in the field of cosmetology. Learning opportunities develop professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes specialized training in safety, sanitation, state laws, rules, and regulations, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, skin, hair, and nail diseases and disorders, hair treatments and manipulations, hair shaping, hair styling, artificial hair, braiding/intertwining hair, chemical reformation and application, skin and nail care, hair coloring, hair lightening, reception, sales, management, employability skills, and work ethics. The curriculum meets state licensing requirements of the State Board of Cosmetology. Program graduates will receive a Cosmetology for Licensure and are employable as a cosmetology salesperson, cosmetologist, salon manager, or a salon owner.

General Admission Requirements

  • Submit completed application and application fee
  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Submit official high school transcript or GED transcript with test scores and ALL post-secondary transcripts in an official sealed envelope
  • Meet assessment requirements

Readmission

If a student changes his/her declared major from Cosmetology to a different program, and then back to Cosmetology, the latest program application date will be used to determine placement on the eligibility list.

A minimum grade of C for each course is required to receive a Cosmetology for Licensure Certificate TCC from SCTC.

Students must complete ALL COSM COURSES with a grade of C or higher in order to graduate.

Students at least 16 years of age to start the program and 17 years of age to sit for the State Board of Cosmetology licensing exam.

PLEASE NOTE: Students must choose either the day or evening program. Day and evening classes cannot be combined.
